What’s with the Tesla Circular Speedometer?

I’m a little over 60 days in on my refreshed Model S 90D and I’ve been noticing screenshots, even recent ones, of the Tesla speedometer, and it looks different than mine. As the image above shows, there is a circular speedometer out there that I haven’t for the life of me figured out how to toggle on. Finally, I found a great writeup over at Teslatap. Turns out if your Model S doesn’t have AutoPilot hardware, you get the circle. If it does, you get the traffic user interface that has a digital speedometer. There you have it. You can read more about the evolution of the Tesla Instrument Panel over at Teslatap.
